Words of Wisdom- Day 7

Discipline

My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline,
and do not resent his rebuke,
because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
as a father the son he delights in.

Proverbs 3:11-12

I was listening to a short message on the radio the other morning that was talking about life being full of blessings and battles. We all love the blessings and when we are experiencing them we hope they will never end. The battles are painful and sometimes they sometimes feel like they will never end. But both are equally necessary. If we only experienced God’s blessings how would we grow or mature? We don’t experience the hardships of life because God no longer loves us. Just the opposite, he disciplines us because he loves us. Loving parents discipline their children so that they will learn valuable life lessons and grow in character. It is painful for the child at the time, but it is for their good that the consequences are enforced. God desires us to walk in the light with him , but we must be disciplined from time to time to refine our character. He uses these times to prune the areas in our lives that need pruning so we can become even more fruitful in the future. But even as we experience hardship, we are often given small blessings as well. We only need to look to recognize them.
